Technical Issues - How to Uninstall ROBLOX

Reese August 17, 2010

Please try the following steps to uninstall ROBLOX:

WINDOWS USERS:

  • In Windows XP, go to Start menu > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down until you see ROBLOX, and uninstall the program there.
  • In Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to Start menu > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Scroll down until you see ROBLOX and uninstall the program from there.

If the program is still not removed, try the following:

Clear your Temporary Internet Files

The location of the Temporary Internet Files folder depends on the version of Windows and whether or not you are using user profiles.

For Windows 7 and Windows Vista:

If you have Windows 7 or Windows Vista then Temporary Internet Files are in these locations (note that on your PC they can be on other drive instead of drive C):

  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\

Please note that you will need to change the settings of Windows Explorer to show all kinds of files (including the protected system files) in order to access these folders.

For Windows XP:

If you have Windows XP then Temporary Internet Files are in this location (note that on your PC they can be on other drive instead of drive C):

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

Note: that on your PC they can be on other drive instead of drive C.

If you have only one user account on Windows XP then replace <username> with Administrator to get the path of the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Check your firewall

A lot of antivirus or internet security software tries to control which programs can access the internet. Often, these programs err on the side of caution and by default no program is allowed access. The easiest thing to try is just turning your internet firewall software off - but if you would prefer not to do that, follow these steps to safely allow ROBLOX to access the internet:

  1. Find your firewall program's control panel.  Often you can find this in the taskbar in the lower right hand corner of your desktop. Otherwise, it is probably in your Windows Control Panel.  It's very common to find the control panel in your taskbar.  Make sure to check down there.
  2. Find the program permissions section.
  3. Find ROBLOX and allow it unrestricted access to the internet.

For specific help, please consult your program's help manual, or read the following if you have Norton Anti-Virus: Norton Firewall and Anti-Virus

Re-Install ROBLOX

Go to http://www.roblox.com/install/ and re-install the ROBLOX program. This may seem counter-intuitive but if the problem is a corrupted file from a previously unsuccessful uninstall attempt, this will overwrite the copy of the program on your computer, and replace any deleted or broken files. You should then be able to go into your Start menu and uninstall the program.

MAC USERS:

       1. Make sure you are completely closed out of the ROBLOX program.

To ensure that you are completely closed out of the program, please press the Command + Option + Esc keys to open a task management prompt. Make sure you do not see ROBLOX or Roblox Studio in it. If either program is listed, please select ROBLOX or ROBLOX Studio and click "Force Quit."

       2. Open Finder and search for "NPRoblox.plugin" -- Once you have found this item, please delete it.

Note: Make sure you are searching all folders within your Mac. If you are searching within the local folder, your search will not execute properly.

       3. Go to Finder > Applications

Drag the ROBLOX icon into the trash; the icon in finder contains all of the ROBLOX files that have been installed.
